At CES 2010, MSI demonstrated their Big Bang Fuzion, a high-end Intel motherboard featuring Lucid’s HydraLogix 200 chipset. Today MSI brings us the same technology in a much more cost-friendly package, the AMD-based 870A Fuzion. Coming in price-wise between most 890GX and 890FX models, the 870A Fuzion offers MSI’s high-end features like Military-Class components, Auto OC Genie and Unlock CPU Core, along with current SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3 standards, with true cross-vendor, asymmetrical video processing support thanks to the HydraLogix 200 chipset.

As we know though, not all cards are created equal, and the ASUS GeForce GTS 450 TOP 1GB is a case in point. It takes the Nvidia reference design and injects some steroid-like features into the mix, with a custom heatsink, improved power distribution, voltage tweaking, and an aggressive factory overclock out of the box. From where we sit, it seems ASUS is going for the jugular here, throwing its considerable weight into what appears to be a mini juggernaut of a card.

NVIDIA recently earned its reputation back with the GF104 Fermi-based GeForce GTX 460; a video card that dominated the price point even before it dropped to $179 USD and completely ruled the middle market. Priced to launch at $129, the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 packs 192 CUDA cores into its 40nm GF106 Fermi GPU and adds 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Benchmark Reviews overclocked our GTS 450 to nearly 1GHz, and even paired them together in SLI. NVIDIA expects their new GTS 450 to compete against the Radeon HD 5730 at 1680×1050, but we learned from GTX 460 there’s usually more performance reach than they suggest.

“The Pitstop T60 test bench chassis exhibits all the characteristics one would expect from a Lian Li product. The materials, quality and fit and finish are second to none. It also, unfortunately, seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. While it definitely qualifies as a test bench chassis, all the components are attached with screws and not that much easier to swap than it would be in a regular case.”
