There are many components inside a PC which seem to be requiring increasing amounts of power as they seem to require huge wattages to function correctly. This is why the PSU market has advanced massively in recent years with PSU’s with wattages up to 1200 watts and beyond not uncommon. Most PC’s however will not require such a huge amount of power which is why there are many high performance, lower wattage PSU’s currently on offer.
