According to The Guardian, O2 has apparently won the race to stock the forthcoming Palm Pre when it’s announced as a UK version next week.

American gadget group Palm will next week confirm that it has signed a deal with O2 which will see the mobile phone network become the exclusive UK partner for its eagerly awaited Palm Pre handset.”

O2 is stated to also have fought of major competition from Orange for exclusive rights to stock the Palm Pre, something it also managed to do with the iPhone. Carphone Warehouse is also expected to stock the Palm Pre.

Market analysts claim that Palm has already sold more than 300,000 Pre devices in the US alone and is expected to revive the company.

The Palm Pre has been highly praised since its launch in the US, its touch screen is apparently on par with the iPhone and its slide out keyboard means that emails and texts are much quicker and easier to type compared to  the iPhone’s on screen keyboard. Its method of charging has also been highly talked about, rather than being plugged directly into the mains, the Palm Pre is simply placed on what Palm is calling its ‘Touchstone’ which charges the Pre via magnetic induction.
