The next big milestone of Mozilla Firefox is expected to be achieved today. The one billionth download of the extremely popular browser is expected within 24 hours.

The one billion figure refers to all version of Firefox, the first of which was released five years ago. Firefox currently enjoys a market share of 31 percent, which analysts expect to grow. Internet Explorer is the current leader with a massive 60 percent market share. The other 10% is occupied by browsers such as Chrome, Safari and Opera.

Mozilla recently released screenshots of Firefox 4.0 which has an updated UI in order to stay ahead of the competition.
