There’s now a 4oD iPhone app available so you can catch up with all your TV wherever you are! One such app everyone in the UK has been begging for.

It’s been available on the iPad for quite some time, but the app has now made its appearance across all iOS devices: iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The 4oD iPhone app allows you to view recordings from the last 30 days and search for your favourite content.

Strangely playback is restricted to only a Wi-Fi network, however you can still browse the app while on 3G. Reasoning for this is “to ensure the quality of the viewing experience isn’t affected”, which we know isn’t true, I managed to watch the entire  F1 2010 Bahrain race over 3G on iPlayer, tethering it from my iPhone to my Mac – while on a pretty poor 3G signal too!

Another added feature is the direct link to the Channel 4 store on iTunes within the app, so if you want to download shows (to own) this is available. At a cost of course.

Helen Walker, 4oD Product Manager says: “We’re delighted to bring 4oD to our viewers with iPhones and iPod Touches, and to offer our existing iPad users an update to their app, with a new carousel and ability to now browse the app over 3G’.

You can grab the app from the Apple App Store for free.
