Sony’s CEO and Executive VP, Nobuyuki Oneda recently had a conference call where they reported that PS3 manufacturing costs have been reduced by nearly 70%.

He was initially vague about figures and noted that it had dropped significantly and on-time. However, he then gave in and reported the whopping 70% saving.

The 70% production cost drop would therefore make the rumoured £75 / $100 price cut possible. This would bring the price down to around £200 / $240.
