93,000 accounts hit thanks to new PlayStation security breach
Matt - October 12th, 2011 11:52 AM
Sony has revealed that between Friday 7th October and Monday 10th October, thousands of PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment accounts were hacked. This news arrives just a few months after the last security breach in which Sony had to fork out millions to fix the PlayStation Network, as well as angering many of it’s customers.
Over 60,000 PSN and 33,000 SOE accounts were hit in the four day period. It’s reported that sign-in IDs and passwords were used to access these accounts and Sony has since frozen them, pending further investigation.
Users affected will be emailed by Sony and will be asked to change their log in information.
It must also be noted that credit card details were not touched, so their should be no problems regarding that.
