Both Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer, Apple CEO and CFO, respectively, have reportedly suggested that the 7-inch Android tablet from Amazon poses no serious threat to the iPad.
The Amazon Kindle Fire is just a few days away from release in the US and Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has already gave the world his thoughts on th tablet saying that the budget tablet is of no serious threat to the iPad’s dominance.
Tim Cook stated this during a conversation with an analyst who met with the newly appointed Apple CEO recently.
Barclay’s Capital analyst Ben Reitzes has claimed that neither Cook or Oppenheimer see the 7-inch, $199, Android powered Amazon Kindle Fire as a potential iPad beater, with the retailer’s bespoke takr on the Android OS to cause potential further fragmentation.
“While the pricing at $199 looks disruptive for what seems to be the iPad’s most important rising challenge, the Amazon Fire – it is important to note that it could fuel further fragmentation in the tablet market – given it represents yet another platform,” said Reitzes. “While compatible with Android, the Apps work with Amazon products.”
iOS is currently strictly regimented for formality and uniformity to enable a safe and secure platform for users to store their personal information and documents.
Apple heads are apparently very pleased with the potential of further fragmentation to the Android platform.
Reitzes added: “The more fragmentation, the better, says Apple, since that could drive more consumers to the stable Apple platform.”
