Google has just announced that the Android Market had recently hit the 10 billion download milestone. A very impressive feat, in which Google are rewarding Android users with a very special deal!
Despite a very slow start for the Android smartphone and tablet platform, taking 22 months to secure its first billion downloads, Android is now racking up the downloads with over one billions apps being downloaded every month!
Google are definitely trying their best to catch up rivals Apple, who had reached 15 billion downloads earlier in the year.
“Apple announced the 15 billion download mark in July so it’s clear that Android’s momentum in device activations is translating to application downloads and usage,” Geoff Blaber, an analyst with CCS Insight said.
Because of this monumental achievement, Google are offering certain premium applications for just 10 pence each, which in some cases is a huge discount, for the next 10 days.
