Apple have recently passed another milestone. This time, it’s in celebration of 25 billion app downloads! It feels like only yesterday that Apple announced the 10 billion milestone, which really makes you think about how many people there actually are downloading applications nowadays.
With popular applications like Angry Birds, Instagram, Camera+, to name a few, it’s no wonder we’ve managed to get to 25 billion from 10 billion in such a short space of time.
Gail Davis, from Orpington, London, was the 10 billionth app downloader on January 22nd 2011 and was presented with a $10,000 iTunes giftcard. Apple have stated that they’ll be disclosing the app, and person, responsible for the 25 billionth download later this week.
In 2011 alone, the combined net sales for all of Apple’s various stores, including the iTunes Store, App Store and iBookstore equaled around $5.4 billion (£3.4 billion).
As well as the 25 billionth app download, Apple shares closed at $545.18 last Friday with the Cupertino company valued at $508.31 billion. Aproximately $100 billion more than Exxon, who are now the world’s second biggest company.
