The 2nd generation Apple Watch, rebranded as “Apple Watch: Series 2“, has been unveiled and it certainly packs a punch.
Apple unveiled the new generation of Apple Watch on stage yesterday, and have given us a run down of some of the main new features, and welcome additions.
Probably the most popular announcement of the segment was that Series 2 will feature built-in GPS, a feature that most smart watches already have. This new included feature will mean that users can enjoy a run without the need to carry their phone with them.
A brand new design, internally, also means that the Series 2 watch is now swim proof and water resistant up to 50 metres. The brand new speaker design will also act as a way of flushing out water after use. It will be interesting to see how well this feature works.
The new watch will also feature a dual-core CPU & new GPU with twice the performance over its predecessor. A 2nd generation display will also be present, and the watch will sport WatchOS 3.
As well as this, the original Apple Watch will now sport the same dual-core CPU as the Series 2 and will be renamed “Series 1”
The Apple Watch: Series 2 will be available to pre-order on September 9th and will be available on September 16th.
