Average Briton uses ‘10 passwords a day’
Rhys - June 28th, 2011 10:51 AM
Research has shown the average Briton has to remember 10 passwords a day, yet more evidence to show how technology has impacted our lives.
Over 50% of the Brits surveyed admitted to using the same password for everything.
Common passwords are names of pets (12%), date of birth (10%) and mother’s maiden name (9%). This is all slightly worrying with it now being so easy to find out one’s personal details through social networks, we’re giving fraudsters an extremely easy task.
Martin Ott, co-CEO of Skrill who funded the research said, “Passwords, pins and codes go a long way to help protect people. Consumers may find it annoying to be constantly asked to prove who they are, but unfortunately there will always be scammers out there attempting to trick people into handing over their hard-earned cash.”
