Battlefield developer hints at Xbox 720 specs

    Matt - March 12th, 2012 9:00 AM

With quite a number of rumours floating around the web, regarding the Xbox 720, it comes as no surprise that there’s now another rumour.

Johan Andersson, a rendering architect of EA’s Battlefield 3, recently announced that he thinks the next generation of games consoles need to be kitted out with some pretty high-end specs so that it can compete with much cheaper mobile gaming options.

He went on to say, “We need lots and lots of processing power. The more you can cram into a machine, we’ll take advantage of that.”

The current Xbox 360 model sports just 512MB of RAM, which is definitely not upto the current standards of gaming devices with most smartphones and tablets currently sporting at least 1GB of RAM.

Andersson also had this to say, “Two gigabytes would not be enough when it comes to RAM. Four gigabytes would work. Eight gigabytes? Yeah. I think that would be perfect when it comes to memory.”

What do you make of this? Do you reckon that the Xbox 720 will sport the massive jump, from the current 512MB to 8GB, in RAM? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, or on Facebook and Twitter.
