Call of Duty Elite receives over one million subscribers in first week

The new subscription based Call of Duty service, Elite, has topped one million subscribers in its first week, much to the delight of Activision.

However, it hasn’t all been happy days with the service being hit by various service outages and issues a few times.

With the Elite subscription costing £34.99, Activision will definitely be celebrating the large group of subscribers and the massive pot of cash they’ve received in yearly subscription fees.

“The audience response to Call of Duty Elite’s premium service has been beyond our expectations, and we want to thank Call of Duty players around the world for their unprecedented enthusiasm,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.

“The number of gamers who have registered for Call of Duty Elite further illustrates how this service is poised to redefine social gaming and set a new bar for interactive entertainment.”

The issues that plagued the Call of Duty Elite service meant that Activision had to offer a 30 day free extension for customers after server outages caused problems for the high demand game.
