Due to the poor economy it seems the more expensive games consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PS3 are being impacted the most. Microsoft is fully aware of this and rumour has it that the direction they’re taking is to cut the price of the Xbox 360 Elite to £180 / $300 to replace the Xbox 360 Pro.

If the rumour is true, the only two Xbox’s offered by Microsoft will be the Arcade and the Elite. Microsoft has not officially reported on the 360 Pro retirement or a price cut just yet.

Sony on the other hand has not cut the price of their console – although there’s been plenty of rumours that they will.

If the sources are true, the price cut will be coming into action on August 30th.
