The gimicky feature of the new Apple iPhone 4S, Siri, has been the centre of quite a few funny videos and websites these past few weeks, and all of us iPhone 4 users have been been left in the dark. However, a US deveoper has successfully ported Siri to the iPhone 4.
Developer Steven Troughton-Smith, who is responsible for transporting Siri to the iPhone 4, put up a video showing the Apple iPhone 4 running Siri.
Even though Siri does run on the iPhone 4 in the video, you’ll notice that it’s extremely laggy; this is obviously only the first stage though and should be fully rectified in the future.
The iPhone 4S features a dual-core A5 processor, the same one seen in the iPad 2. It was first speculated that Siri would require 1GB of RAM and would rely on the A5 dual-core processor to be able to run properly. However, it was found that Siri doesn’t actually need a dual-core processor and with the iPhone 4S only housing 512MB of RAM, just like its predecessor, it seems that this wasn’t the case at all.
If Siri is fully ported to the iPhone 4 and runs at a relatively good level, would this stop you from upgrading or would you be wanting some of the iPhone 4S’ full HD 1080p goodness as well?
