Facebook Launching Read, Listened, Watched, And Want Buttons
Matt - September 20th, 2011 2:00 PM
The “Like” button has pretty much changed the way we express ourselves online or at least on Facebook. The Like button gives users the ability to “like” something and then have that update posted to their Facebook profile, which enables people to get a clearer picture of you. Perhaps you’ve liked some new cooking recipes or perhaps someones music or maybe you’ve been rather unfortunate and liked something a little “dodgy” and now the whole world knows what really goes on in your mind!
The Like button does enable users to create some rather weird pages though such as, “If a million people like this, I’ll call my baby Megatron”. Presumably, things will only get “better” now Facebook might be launching, Read, Listened, Watched and Want buttons.
Although, I feel we’re going to have way to many different buttons to express how we feel, what we want etc… Facebook addicts will most likely love the new updates.
It’s understood that the “Want” button will most likely another way for Facebook to earn revenue by linking the Want button with external resellers and then showing you the best deal nearest to you perhaps.
Recently, after the F8 Developer Conference, we’ve heard that some big things / changes are going to be happening soon including the new buttons, as well as a social music service.
What are your thoughts on the new features? Will they put you off Facebook or will you be embracing the new features?
