Facebook Now Second Most Visited Site In UK

    Matt - June 28th, 2011 10:58 AM

Facebook (that slightly popular social networking site I’m sure you’ve heard of), and it’s popularity have sky rocketed over the past few years and their next target is most likely going to be the 1 billion users mark. News last week reported that the amount of Facebook users worldwide is now over 750 million! A number that some would find hard to comprehend.

As well as passing this crazy figure, Facebook has just pushed MSN down a position in the UK moving up to second place on the list of most popular sites in the UK.

According to UKOM/Nielsen, almost half of the UK population visited Facebook in May, an almost terrifying number at 27 million people. We’re not sure whether this is a good or bad sign for society but we do know one thing, that’s one hell of a lot of people throwing sheep and poking each other!

Again, according to the same statistics and research, the average time spent on the social networking site is a staggering six hours 39 minutes.

Microsoft, owners of the online news site MSN, have said that they are not particularly concerned about dropping a position becuase MSN is being refocussed and they’re more with whether people come back for repeated visits and for how long.

All we know is that we all spend way too much time on Facebook when we could be doing much more productive things! How long do you visit Facebook for every day? Leave a comment below.
