Google Survey Reveals Tablets are mainly used for Gaming

A surprising survey of over 1400 US tablet owners conducted by Google has revealed that tablets aren’t being used for what Steve Jobs or the other main tablet manufacturers intended.
While Apple believes tablets should be used to surf the internet, read books or magazines and play media content, results have proved differently:
- 84% play games on their tablet
- 78% for searching information
- 74% for emailing
- 61% reading news
- 56% social networking
- 51% music and/or video
- 46% read eBooks
The survey didn’t target a specific manufacturer or model of tablet, it was targeted towards all tablets. However, at the time it was conducted, March 2011, Apple’s iPad accounted for the mass of the tablet market.
With the current lack of focus on tablet gaming by manufacturers, these results could change things completely…
