A YouTube video has brought to light a very concerning matter, in which Android users’ every move is being tracked whilst using their device. Although tracking software isn’t new, surely users should be told that they’re every move is being tracked whilst using the device?
This news was brought to the world’s attention after a developer posted a video to video-sharing site YouTube.
The video shows the developer opening applications, making gestures etc… on the device. The software seen on the left of the video shows that every single move is being tracked.
The company in question, Carrier IQ, have stated that the application is simply for analysis and summarising, not for tracking specific pieces of information.
All we know for certain at the moment is that this has only been proven in HTC Android devices in the US, no testing has been performed on European devices yet.
Should we be concerned that companies are tracking almost our every move without even notifying us? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
