HTC have definitely pushed the boat out here. The, yet to be officially unveiled, HTC Edge, which houses an unimaginable 1.5GHz Tegra 3 chip, has been leaked ahead of a Mobile World Congress 2012 unveiling.

It has been suggested that the HTC Edge, which was leaked via PocketNow, will sport a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU making it the world’s first quad-core smartphone.

This feature alone is sure to get consumers tongues wagging, but the HTC Edge might also feature a 4.7-inch HD display and 1GB of RAM.

An 8-megapixel rear camera is also set to make an appearance on the unreleased smartphone, with Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich being the obvious OS choice that the Edge will ultimately run.

Don’t get too excited yet though, because with an early 2012 release being attached to the HTC Edge, it’s still going to be a few months before we find out what else the HTC Edge will house.

Would you buy a quad-core smartphone? Do we need this much power in a phone? Let us know in the comments section below.
