It’s come to light that both the Apple iPad 3 and iPhone 5 are very real, thanks to a section of code in the iOS 5.1 beta software which has revealed the next-gen Apple devices.

Like always, Apple have unknowlingly, or perhaps on purpose, released a beta version of iOS 5.1 that also contains code that confirms the new hardware.

The code references iPhone 5,1, which is supposedly the long awaited iPhone 5. A similar reference for the iPad 3 has also been included, with iPad 3,2 and iPad 3,2 being the names used here.

The iPad 3 is rumoured to feature a variety of updates and will most likely still be the one to beat next year.

Among the many feature updates, we’ll probably see an update to the 9.7-inch display, possibly turning it into a 9.7-inch Retina Display as well as a design change, improved cameras and a March/April 2012 release date.
