iPhone 5 launch in October seems very likely
Rhys - September 5th, 2011 11:35 AM
The iPhone 5 launch date of October now seems even more likely as assembly has started, according to an article on Japanese website Macotakara. The site claims that a Chinese source has informed them that Foxconn Technology and Pegatron Technology are beginning to start assemble the new iPhone 5, with a share of 85% and 15% respectively.
The phones are being produced without any packaging, for final installation when the iOS 5 build is complete. This suggests Apple is certain about a release soon, trying to build stock levels now before any shortages.
Furthermore, according to some of our own sources, training has already started on the unfinished iOS 5 and iCloud service at Apple retail stores. In the past this has happened a few weeks before a release so this could be a possible clue that the iPhone 5 will happen in October.
Moreover, a leak from Best Buy suggests a, “Apple Fixture Installation” on the 21st of October. It’s not clear exactly what this meeting is, but according to an unnamed employee of Best Buy, this also happened last year shortly before release of the iPhone 5.
The Chinese source that also cited that production has started, also claims that the launching of the iPhone 5 will be held during early October, with the phone on sale later that month.
Only time will tell!
