Publishers are still having major problems with games appearing for sale ahead of their planned street date. However publishers of late have had a bit of luck, many of the people buying these leaked games are playing them online.

Microsoft have launched a full scale enquiry into copies of Halo 3:ODST that have appeared for sale on the store shelves of a few French retailers a long time from their release date.

Apparently the problem seems to be with the actual distribution centre, because Microsoft are saying that the number of leaked copies are small. Microsoft are obviously unhappy with the situation and are investigating any Xbox Live account that plays Halo 3: ODST before the street date. Microsoft have said they will be looking into banning the Live accounts of any users who they find has played ODST before the release date.

Our advice is to steer clear of buying any title before its street date, as you could end up in big trouble. Microsoft are understandably annoyed about the leaking of one if the biggest game releases this season.
