Intel’s LGA 775 platform is expected to have a rather long life cycle. Intel plans to keep it alive for at least two more years and it should be possible to buy LGA775 chipset and motherboards as far away as 2011.

Intel’s P45, G45, G43 and G41 chipsets are being updated to improve their mainstream application and value in the next two years. The most important factor in the update is DDR3 support, which should keep the platform going strong for some considerable time.

In 2011 Intel’s desktop CPU range should have at least three major sockets, LGA775, LGA1366 and LGA1156, and it’s possible that others may be released. It is also highly likely that Intel may contimue selling the most popular LGA775 chips and boards beyond 2011.
