Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released today and online retail outlet Amazon.co.uk have confirmed that it has become the most pre-ordered game in the retailer’s history.

The previous record holders were also games from the COD franchise, Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 received a 32 per cent increase on pre-orders over the previous years record holder Black Ops. The game looks set to break even more sales records across the globe.

However, it’s not all good news. Following the release of Modern Warfare 3, the Call of Duty: Elite service appeared to be suffering from a few problems last night alongside the launch with overcapacity being targeted as the root of the problem.
