According to Charlie Demerjian from Semi Accurate, nVidia’s GT300 has been taped out and so is closer than expected to be being released.

Unfortunately no one knows a clear date when the card was taped out. Therefore the launch date is still fairly unclear; however, many rumours are floating about that the GT300 should be in stores by Q4 2009. This is a very tight-timeline in itself, so I expect we’ll see a launch with very little stock (if nVidia actually make the deadline) – similar to what we saw when the GX2 9800 was released.

If nVidia manage to release the GT300 during Q4, we’ll see nVidia going up against ATI’s Everygreen series which is also set to be launched at a similar date.
