The hype around Pokémon Go has been insane these past couple of months, with gameplay videos racking up millions of views on YouTube and over 500 million downloads of the game. Well, it has just been announced that the hugely popular Niantic, Inc. creation will be making its way to the new Apple Watch and is set to be released later this year.
Announced at the Apple iPhone 7 event today, Niantic demoed the app running on an Apple Watch: Series 2. New features of the Pokémon game include being notified of nearby Pokémon, PokéStops & also the ability to notify you of how far away your eggs are from hatching. The app will also display additional information about the player’s fitness levels.
Currently you have to keep your phone out if you want to catch that rare Lapras you’ve got your eye on, but thankfully with the Apple Watch app you’ll be able to keep track of which Pokémon are nearby and when your eggs are about to hatch without taking your phone out of your pocket. The only time you’ll need to grab your iPhone is when you’re ready to start chucking some Pokéballs around.
The Apple Watch app is set to be released later this year, with no set date currently available.
