Rovio’s Angry Birds 2 hits the App Store

Gaming, News

Angry Birds has been around over half a decade now, with the first version appearing on our smartphones way back in 2009. Since then there’s been seasonal versions, Star Wars versions and even Transformers versions. Well, Finnish game maker Rovio have just released Angry Birds 2 for all your gaming needs!

You might be thinking, “Angry Birds 2? There’s been 10 different Angry Birds games in between the first and this new release!” Well, yes, you’re correct. However, the name’s not the point. The new Angry Birds 2 has the same basic formula that made every other versions extremely popular, with fun new elements and features.

The new features include all-new bird characters, spells, multi-stage levels and even new boss pigs!

Designed with iOS in mind, Rovio have created the brand new game with ultra-crisp graphics. There’s cool quirky details and fun animations in the background.

To make Angry Birds 2 a little more challenging than previous versions, there’s now multi-stage levels. This basically means that instead of completing a level and moving on you now have to complete various stages to complete the level. As well as this, the addition of brand new spells, including Blizzards and Hot Chilis, means that you have an added advantage during levels you might be a little stuck on.

If you do somehow manage to complete the game, why not try your hand at some tournaments by connecting to Facebook and challenging friends and users from around the world. Playing the game with users from around the world enables you to play within the Arena; an endless mode that carries on until you run out of birds and spells.

The game is optimised for the iPhone 5, iPad 3, iPad mini 2 and fifth-generation iPod touch or newer. “You can try it on older devices, but we can’t guarantee a smooth bird flinging experience,” notes Rovio.

The new Angry Birds 2 is available for free, with the option of buying In-App extras if you’d like. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
