Coffee shop chain Starbucks have just confirmed that they’ll be bringing their mobile payment application to customers within the UK very soon. The app will allow for payments at Starbucks coffee shops to be made direct from the app.
The app will be made exclusively available to both iPhone and iPod Touch users, with it being available to use across the UK’s 700 Starbucks stores.
When you download the app, you can link it to your Starbucks account, making it easier to purchase products by just holding up the barcode which is shown on screen.
“Customers want to be served quickly, but fewer want to use cash. We wanted to find a way for them to pay in the quickest way possible,” said Brian Waring, VP of Marketing and Category at Starbucks UK. “Because our customers want it, we have created our own custom-built mobile payment technology rather than waiting for the near field communication technology which is currently not widely available.”
