It’s been a long time coming, but Toshiba has finally given in and is now backing Blu-ray as the way to go, the decision comes more than a year after the 4 major film studios officially endorses Blu-ray.

Toshiba has been persistent in its backing of HD-DVD, but when Blu-ray was chosen instead by the major film studios it proved to be the downfall of HD-DVD, although Toshiba certainly took their time to realise it.

Toshiba has announced that it will be joining the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). They also announced that they will start producing Blu-ray players and Blu-ray PC disc drives by the end of 2009.
