Yeah that’s right, Apple have once again filed another patent. This time it’s for a range of commonly used unlocking techniques including swiping and pattern entry, something most Android and iOS users will know of.
The same unlocking technology is used on the iPhone, iPad, Google’s Android and most recently Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.
This patent is most definitely going to be the basis for more lawsuits from Apple and will most likely be used as a weapon to continue their ultimate goal of “destroying” the Android operating system after Steve Jobs believed that it was a rip-off of iOS.
So far Apple have targeted both Samsung and Motorola in various countries.
Because of these lawsuits, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is currently banned from being sold in both Germany and Australia.
In response to the ban, Samsung also launched a counter offensive, claiming that Apple has infringed technology patents which it holds, however this was turned down by an Italian court.
What do you make of this news? Are Apple just protecting their property or are they out to destroy all of the competition? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
