Twitter Generates Sales for Dell
Rhys - June 13th, 2009 7:57 PM
Twitter is definitely on the right move towards monetizing their masses of traffic. The PC giant, Dell, recently reported that it has made over $3 million from Twitter followers who have clicked through to the Dell site via Twitter posts.
In the past six months alone, Dell has scored a good $1 million from Twitter. Although this doesn’t sound a lot when sided with the $12.3 billion Dell made in Q1 2009, for the little marketing effort contributed, the extra revenue is certainly not missed.
Jenna Sampson from Twitter said, “For now, monetization of this type of activity remains unknown. However, as the network grows, the company will be committing more resources toward profitability.”
Hopefully this ‘monetization’ doesn’t lead to Pop-ups or Interstitial Adverts which some of the other Social Networking sites thrive on.
