Sources have told us that XFX have confirmed to start overclocking their Radeon HD 5870. The card, which we’re hoping to be highly overclocked is expected to hit the market sometime this month.

Currently the actual overclock is unfortunately unknown, but there’s been some recent speculation that the 5870 Black Edition should entail more than just a marginal OC.

XFX are rumoured to still be deciding on which cooler to be used with the video card. It could be the stock cooler… it could be a custom one. What is clear though is that the XFX Radeon HD 5870 BE will be faster than the reference 5870 and will be styled in Black – just like the name suggests.
