Conclusion

The acronym NAS is very misleading in the scenario of the Synology DS110J. Not just a network attached storage device, the Synology DS110J is a fully fledged server offering some very advance and useful features.

For a home environment the DS110J is a definite success. It’s easy to install and use and makes tasks such as a FTP server a complete doddle to setup for even the most in-experienced of users. Moreover, the Apple-White appearance can subtly sit in the background of a home office with its low running noise and calm characteristics not being a bother.

For these reasons I’m awarding the Synology DS110J a high scoring 5/5. This device honestly has no clear negatives.
