Antec Fusion Remote Max

Externals

As this is a HTPC case, it obviously lies flat unlike tower format cases. Compared with the standard Fusion, the Fusion Max is around 2” taller in height. For an enclosure which is likely to sit in your living this is quite large, albeit perfect for all your high spec’d HTPC components.

The front of the Antec Fusion Remote Max features a large black aluminium bezel. This is brushed aluminium and certainly has an air of quality about it. Dominating the bezel is a large aluminium volume knob, an LCD display and an aluminium stealthy drive bay cover.

Beneath the aluminium section of the front is an acrylic flap. After flipping this down all the I/O ports are revealed: 2x USB, 1x Firewire, 1x eSATA, 1x Mic and 1x Headphone. There is also access to the fan filters here too so that they can be cleaned. So that the flap doesn’t randomly open, it’s secured by a magnetic.

The fan filters can be removed for cleaning by simply giving them a press. They will then easily slide out.

At the bottom of the enclosure is two large vented areas which are backed with mesh fan filters. Towards the front are two brushed aluminium case feet with foam bottoms for sound dampening; the feet at the back are large soft rubber ones – ideal for keeping vibrations to a minimum.

Atop the case is only one single vented area. This is located in the same position as a graphics card underneath would be located, therefore – as long as no media appliance sits atop – there will be clean airflow towards the graphics card.

On the left-side of the Remote Max is a 120mm ventilated area for the power supply’s fan. This will mean cool air is drawn through here and then exited out the rear of the PSU, therefore only cooling the power supply.

The opposing (right-side) features another 120mm ventilated area, however this one has a 120mm fan installed behind it. The 120mm fan is one of Antec’s highly popular Tri-Cool fans whereby a small 3-way switch is used to control the speed to three different speed settings.

At the back of the Fusion Remote Max are space for a Full ATX motherboard, a power supply placement, a 120mm fan and two switches for controlling the speed of the rear and right-side fan. Securing the top panel to the case is a single thumbscrew. A padlock can be used to secure the top for greater security.
