The Antec Nine Hundred Two (Exterior)
Whilst the Nine Hundred Two is an updated version of the Nine Hundred, you can clearly see influences from the Twelve Hundred in the case. The case is constructed mainly from steel but has plastic both on the top and the front, both of these are very strong and the plastic helps to counteract the heavy weight of the steel, it also keeps costs down. The complete matte black design looks amazing and means you won’t leave fingerprints all over your case.
Dominating the front of the case are the metal perforated drive bay covers, which cover nine 5.25" drive bays. The perforated covers, whilst looking good, also allow for extra air flow. Peeking out from under these covers are two 120mm intake fans, each illuminated blue by LEDs. A feature we really like about this case is the separate knob for each front fan placed on the front of the case, which can be turned to adjust the fan speed.
There are power and reset buttons, along with USB, audio, and an eSATA port arranged along the top at the front.
The side of the case remains faithful to the original Nine Hundred design, with a bottom to top window that allows you to look in on the innards of your computer.
The window also features a grille to add an extra 120mm fan, to maximize the cooling potential of the case.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the case is the 200mm exhaust fan on the top of the case, like the other fans in the case it is illuminated by blue LEDs. The design of the fan has changed from the original Nine Hundred and now looks more like the fan of the Twelve Hundred. There is also a tray design on the top of the case, which has become increasingly popular lately. The tray can be used to store various items such as MP3 players, memory sticks and mobile phones – very useful indeed.
The black paint has been continued on the back of the case, which features holes for watercooling. There are also switches to control the speed of the rear fan, the top fan and to turn the top fan’s LED on or off. As mentioned previously, these were located on the inside of the case on the Nine Hundred, having them on the back is much easier but can still make them a bit tricky to use.
