Installation

To begin the installation we installed the Power Supply. We installed an Enermax Pro 82+ 425W unit since this is one of the quietest units out, so would aid in recording noise outputs. The first task was removing the PSU mounting plate; this was easily done by simply lifting a catch. Then the unit was screwed into position upon the mounting plate. Job done.

The drives were next on the agenda. To install our optical drive it was incredibly easy. Following the instructions from the online manual, we installed one of the supplied optical drive standoff screws into the designated position. Then we slide the drive into its bay in the lower section until we heard a click – indicating it had locked into position. As the drive is only secured on its right-side, it was a bit wobbly. To counteract this, some normal drive screws can be used to tighten the drive into its placement.

Somewhat identical to the optical drive installation, the hard drive was installed into its one of two slots inside the case. As the manual informs us, we can also mount a total of four hard drives on the sides of the case. However I did not do this as I don’t like the idea of having all my all important data close to my static ridden carpet. If you wish to though, its very simple. Look at the manual for reference.

Once both drives were in, they sit flush with each other. Beneath each drive a further drive can be installed.

Next up, the motherboard. To install this there is multiple ways. Firstly, you’re going to need to slide out the motherboard tray. This is done by releasing two screws either side and then simply sliding it out upon its rails. It will slide out ¾ of the way. To slide it out fully, a catch on the left rail needs to be lifted.

However, for ease of installation, we can actually separate the motherboard tray from its frame. This is done by simply undoing 3 screws located at two corners and in the centre of the tray.

Now, installing the motherboard, RAM, CPU and cooler is much easier as you can probably guess. Be careful though, when sliding the frame back into the skeleton, there’s not much clearance between the PCI bracket and the motherboard – in fact only 9-10cm. Therefore, most aftermarket CPU coolers will not be able to be installed within this enclosure. When installing our MSI P45 Platinum, even the flower chipset cooler on the board nearly hit the PCI bar.
