Stability

Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W

Out of all the power supplies shown, the Antec Quattro 1000W performs 4th best when comparing its voltage to rated. Furthermore, there is no fluctuation in the voltage which shows this PSU is rock stable.

Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W

The 5V rail isn’t quite as impressive. As you can clearly see, the Quattro 1000W performed the worst and is way out in comparison to the other units. The voltages on this rail too do not change.

Fortunately the 12v rail is a little better with it performing 2nd best. There was only a small fluctuation of 0.01v in the wrong direction when changing from idle to load.

Efficiency

PF Standby PF Idle PF Load Watts Standby Watts Idle Watts Load
Signature 650W 16 84 91 7 94 139
Commander 850W 24 77 85 9 98 142
RX-8500 850W 20 70 81 6 96 142
Turbo Cool 860W 19 80 86 9 100 143
M12D 850W 43 87 91 8 94 137
Revolution85+ 950W 25 90 94 9 97 140
Quattro 1000W 16 86 91 9 104 148
Fatal1ty 700W 20 83 90 9 97 142

From the efficiency tests we can see the Antec TruePower Quattro performed 3rd best in the idle and load test. Its standby result wasn’t too impressive though with it being joint last with the Signature 650W – another Antec power supply.

As for wattage, it performed the worst. It’s using the most power out all seven power supplies. This isn’t a major problem, but it shows the Quattro 1000 watt to lack efficiency.

Noise

Alike the fan on the 850W version of this power supply and like many other Antec power supplies, the Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W is certainly very quiet – not silent however.

Cost

The Antec Quattro 1000W retails for £159 Inc VAT. This is a very competitive price and is only £20 more than the 850W version of this power supply.

However, processors have quickly moved on since July and we’ve got the likes of the Intel Core i7 and recent i5 dominating the market. For this reason, we thought some i5 testing using our trusty CoolIT Domino was in order. Let’s see if the performance from the Domino still survives in this day and age…

Coolink Lapchilla Laptop Cooler

Laptop technology has advanced greatly over the years with different releases of more powerful and compact systems constantly replacing the top notebooks of the year before. However, improving the performance of laptops usually has the knock on effect of producing more heat and so users will commonly seek advice in order to better cool their laptop. An often used approach to this problem is a Laptop Cooler.

However, most laptop coolers do more than simply draw hot air from your system. Many laptop coolers also have become a key feature in making the experience of using a portable machine at a desk more comfortable overall. Most coolers provide an elevated position for the actual laptop which usually features a sort of incline to the keyboard, thus allowing comfortable angles for typing during the longer sessions at the computer.

Zaward Golf Fan II

Many of you wouldn’t have heard of Zaward before and don’t feel disheartened if you’re one, they’re a fairly new company specializing in specifically computer cooling. One of the most innovative products in their catalogue is what’s called the ‘Golf Fan II’.
