The Package

Asus’ description of the packaging as ‘luxury’ is definitely true. Unlike most CPU coolers, which arrive in a normal cardboard box; the Axe Square has gone one step ahead – two even. It arrives in a thick golden crocodile-skin-patterned box with a black wraparound. As you can tell, this is certainly a unique approach to packaging a CPU cooler, one we haven’t witnessed before.

The front of the package certainly gives a sense of royalty about this product. The low-angle shot of the Axe Square standing with its glimmer of gold really makes this product stand out.

Fortunately the rear of the box is a little more informative than the front. All the specifications are neatly listed in a gold-bordered table and the features are listed below in a variety of languages. All the info for any potential buyer is here.

Removing the cardboard lid from the Axe Square’s box reveals the Axe Square comfortably squeezed into position by a vacuum formed lid which conceals it. By removing this it’s evident that the CPU Cooler is cut into place in the foam – along with the accessories box – and as Asus doesn’t do things by half, they’ve also felt lined the top of the foam. This is true quality.

Alike the Axe Square, the accessories are also hidden away inside a box. This one is too very thick and has a magnetic flap closing it. When open, we can see a bunch of golden accessories seated into a foam lining and an installation leaflet sitting comfortably in a pouch.

The assortment of documents and accessories include:

  • 4 Golden Screws
  • Asus Axe Square Sticker
  • Asus’ Own Thermal Paste – quite a funny message written on this, ‘Don’t Swallow’.
  • S775 Installation Pins
  • AMD Mounting Arm
  • Installation Leaflet
