The Hyper N520

Cooler Master products never seem to disappoint me when it comes to how they look, with this product it is possible to see the quality of the cooler. The copper heatpipes seem to be made of very pure copper and don’t tarnish too easily and the cooler is encased my a grey metal casing which looks like it holds the fans in place as well as directing the airflow from the fans.

Atop the cooler there is the manufacturers name "Cooler Master" as well as the ends of the heatpipes which are either neatly capped or crimped.

The fans attached to the cooler both feature translucent grey blades and bear a Cooler Master hologram unfortunately these are not PWM controlled fans so not automatic fan speed adjustment here unforunately. There is a neat feature about these fans though which is that they have a 2 to 1 connector allowing the user to only occupy one 3-pin header on their motherboard instead of two. On this cable there is a tag/sticker which says "Warranty void if removed" a slightly annoying place to have a huge plastic label (which if removed void the warranty) sticking out and it doesn’t look particularly neat either. It can’t even be slid along the cable to a less obvious location either as it is stuck in place.

The CPU contact base is crafted from copper and is covered on arrival by a plastic sticker which protects it from and scratches or unwanted contact. Once removed it is possible to see that although it has an obviously machined finish to it it is also very shiny, this is a tell tell sign that it is very flat, meaning greater CPU contact thus leading to greater heat dissipation.

The coolers fins are relatively thin allowing cooler to cram more in adding more surface area but still seem to be incredibly rigid and strong.

However, processors have quickly moved on since July and we’ve got the likes of the Intel Core i7 and recent i5 dominating the market. For this reason, we thought some i5 testing using our trusty CoolIT Domino was in order. Let’s see if the performance from the Domino still survives in this day and age…

Coolink Lapchilla Laptop Cooler

Laptop technology has advanced greatly over the years with different releases of more powerful and compact systems constantly replacing the top notebooks of the year before. However, improving the performance of laptops usually has the knock on effect of producing more heat and so users will commonly seek advice in order to better cool their laptop. An often used approach to this problem is a Laptop Cooler.

However, most laptop coolers do more than simply draw hot air from your system. Many laptop coolers also have become a key feature in making the experience of using a portable machine at a desk more comfortable overall. Most coolers provide an elevated position for the actual laptop which usually features a sort of incline to the keyboard, thus allowing comfortable angles for typing during the longer sessions at the computer.

Zaward Golf Fan II

Many of you wouldn’t have heard of Zaward before and don’t feel disheartened if you’re one, they’re a fairly new company specializing in specifically computer cooling. One of the most innovative products in their catalogue is what’s called the ‘Golf Fan II’. Unlike most case fans, the Golf Fan 2 features a patent golf-ball-like texture on its fins which according to Zaward reduces noise levels by 15% at the same RPM and airflow.
