Fortunately, AMD installation does not require the use of a backplate as the one already installed can be used; Intel mounting does however need one.

The first step is to remove the retention bracket from the motherboard by removing the four Philips screws. Once the bracket is out of the way, four standoffs need to be installed into the mounting holes.

On arrival, the CoolIT Domino comes fitted with an LGA 1366 mounting bracket. This needs to be removed for AMD and LGA775 installations and instead the CPU block needs to be fitted with the correct bracket.

Then you need to simply align the screws on the mounting bracket with the corresponding AMD screws that we installed earlier. Then it’s a case of tightening each up until the CPU block is nice and secure.

In order for the CoolIT Domino to function, it’s connected up to an available 3 / 4 pin fan header.

The CoolIT Domino can then be mounted in position with the LCD facing towards you using an available rear 120mm fan placement using the four rubber pegs – which attach to the fan screw holes. As my test chassis does not have any fan mounts at all and in order to conduct a fair test, I skipped this step.
