Conclusion

CoolIT have done it. They’ve not just created a watercooling kit for a low £80; they’ve simplified watercooling so much so that neither is it a scary thought or difficult to install. You don’t need to cut holes in your case and install countless components, the Domino A.L.C simply slots straight into your system with minimal fuss. The fact that it’s all pre-plumbed and bled too is a great sense of assurance; it takes the complications out of watercooling so just about anyone can take the jump from normality to extreme cooling.

But no, it’s not just a cheap kit that’s easy to install. The whole Domino itself feels like quality. This quality is emphasized in the performance. With temperatures which nearly meet ambient, what more could you ask for?

As for noise, maybe it was a little louder than the Scythe Mugen 2, but hardly. Trust me on this, you’ll find it difficult to notice the Domino running. And rest assured… if it does – for some reason – stop operating or have a fault; it will beep insanely at you. So you’re in safe hands. This is another problem with water-cooling addressed and solved.

As far as I’m aware, I can only find one real problem with the Domino and that’s the waterblock mounting screw. It’s threading is plastic and the hole in which is screws into is metal. See the problem? Over time – especially if you’re fiddling with your system a lot – the plastic threading will wear down, until eventually it won’t screw into the hole tightly at all. However, this isn’t a major issue as all the screw’s purpose is to hold the backplate to the waterblock whilst you’re installing it and keeps it in position. But still, once it wears, installation is going to be made more difficult.

Bottom Line: For £80 the CoolIT Domino is a cracking purchase to be had. It scores excellent temperatures, installations for all the latest processors and an installation which is easier than an air cooler. No doubt this product deserves 5 / 5 and the ‘editors choice’ award.
