After purchasing such an expensive smartphone, we obviously needed some decent protection for our shiny new iPhone 7 Plus. This is where Cygnett came to save the day. Their new UrbanShield case for iPhone 7 Plus, which is also available for iPhone 6, 6S and 7, offers both slim protection and is extremely affordable at just under £20.
In terms of looks our aluminium version features a brushed aluminium rear, and a metallic finish frame, which in our opinion looks very simplistic but appealing. The inner section of the case is matte black, with the Cygnett logo featured towards the bottom.
If aluminium isn’t your cup of tea then the guys and girls over at Cygnett have got a rose gold version for you as well.
With the iPhone 7 Plus obviously being as large as it is, finding a slimline case can be tricky. I mean, you’re already basically carrying a small tablet device in your pocket so you don’t want to be adding to that bulk anymore.
The UrbanShield case is only a few millimetres thick, which is great. It’s also incredibly sturdy, which helps in its overall protective ability.
After using the Cygnett UrbanShield case for around 1 month, my iPhone 7 Plus is still in pristine condition.
I own the matte black version of the iPhone 7 Plus, and at first I was a bit concerned about getting the phone in and out of the UrbanShield case – mainly because of how sturdy it is, and the fact that you kind of have to push your phone in from one angle and then push the other side of the phone down in to the case. It almost feels like you’re scratching the outer edges of your phone, but during my testing I’ve not seen or witnessed any scratching of my device.
With the case being so thin it hasn’t actually been that noticeable during use, which I suppose is a good thing on a device of this size.
All of the available ports are still easily accessible with the case on, as seen in the pictures below.
During my time testing the Cygnett UrbanShield case for iPhone 7 Plus I’ve not experienced anything negative about this case. It’s sturdy, lightweight and seems to be quite protective, which is all we ever want from a case, right?
This style of case obviously isn’t protecting the front of your device much, but this precision-machined ultra slim case hasn’t been made for that purpose, so we can’t really complain about that.
The overall design is great, in my opinion. There’s nothing overly fancy about it, but it looks very sleek and compliments the iPhone 7 Plus quite nicely.
For the current low price of £15.99, at the time of writing this article, you can pick the Cygnett UrbanShield case up from Cygnett themselves by visiting their website here.
With virtually no bad points, apart from the lack of protection for the front of your device, the Cygnett UrbanShield case for iPhone 7 Plus has earned itself a very impressive 9/10 from TechReviews.
