Enermax Revolution85+ 950W Power Supply (PSU)

The Revolution 85+ comes in a sparkly grey powder-coated finish with red and white details. It measures a whopping 19cm in length – 3cm more than the standard. For the target market of this PSU – mainly gamers – this shouldn’t be a problem. However, for users willing to pack this power supply into a relatively small case, this unit could be a tight squeeze.

A good quality product usually has a nice hard and weighty feel towards it. This is definitely true with this product, it weighs about 3kg! The heaviest PSU we’ve yet reviewed.

The top of the Enermax Revolution has the usual power supply specifications table which is entailed in the form of a sticker. Usually the top of a PSU is very boring, however with the Revolution85+; the paint job really sets this power supply apart from the rest.

On the right side is the product name, ‘Revolution 85+’, which is spanned across the side in white. Beneath the text is four indented arrows which each increase in size from left to right. When this unit is mounted in your system case, this is the side that will be visible. However that doesn’t matter much, as the left side is exactly the same.

Flipping the unit over reveals a 13.5cm fan situated centrally.

Taking a closer look, you can see the fan is transparent and is protected with a black fan grill. An aluminium Enermax badge is seated in the centre of the fan grill – a lot of PSU manufacturers seem to be doing this. The fan surround is red and follows with the sparkly finish entailed all over this unit.

The front of the Enermax Revolution85+ is just one large honey comb grill. A slightly larger than normal power switch is also present along with the usual ‘kettle type’ power connector.

At the rear of the PSU are six physically attached cables and ten modular sockets. The red sockets are for PCI-E whilst the black ones are for peripherals.

CoolIT Domino i5 Testing

For this reason, we thought some i5 testing using our trusty CoolIT Domino was in order. Let’s see if the performance from the Domino still survives in this day and age…
