F-Secure KEY Password Manager Review

App Reviews, Reviews

As you may have seen we reviewed the F-Secure’s Freedome VPN application a few months ago, which we rated very highly. Today we’re checking out the F-Secure KEY Password Manager. It’s essentially a password manager, but with the ability to store all manner of passwords, logins, emails PIN codes and more.

The F-Secure KEY Password Manager is actually free to use, which is nice, however if you’d like to take advantage of using KEY wherever you go, and on any device, you’ll need to upgrade to premium.

A 1-year subscription will set you back £21.99, and a 2-year subscriptions costs £36.99. When you work it out on a month-by-month basis it really isn’t that much. With a 1-year subscription the monthly cost will be £1.83, and on the 2-year subscription it will be £1.54!

All of F-Secures products come with a 30-day money back guarantee as well, so there’s nothing to lose in taking some of their products out for a test drive.

Verdict

I think it is fair to say that the uses of a password manager are fairly limited, however that can’t really be helped. It’s an app to store passwords, and that’s exactly what it does.

The F-Secure KEY app, however, is an extremely well-built bit of software that allows you to sync all of your passwords across multiple devices and also keep your passwords secure by encrypting every entry.

From a security point of view the F-Secure KEY Password Manager offers great protection for all of your passwords and logins; and with the added bonus of managing them across multiple devices, what’s not to love?

With the basic free version providing a huge selection of features you can still make use of the application on your desktop or mobile device. However, if you’re looking to take all of your passwords with you wherever you go then I’d definitely recommend checking out the premium version. The 30-day money back guarantee is there for a reason, so if you don’t like how it works then you can get your money back quickly and easily.

    Pros

  • Ability to store a wide selection of personal information, including bank details, pin numbers, passwords and login information
  • Premium offers extremely good value for money, with the ability to use KEY wherever you go and on any device
  • Autofill feature works very well
  • TouchID can be used on the mobile version of the KEY app, to unlock
  • Application is well laid out and runs smoothly on all platforms
  • Option to import passwords from other applications is a great addition

    Cons

  • Perhaps a Chrome / Firefox extension could be created at some point to allow you to add new details whilst browsing the web. Many users may not actually remember to open up the app and key in their information.
