The Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 Force Feedback Racing Wheel
As you can see, the Thrustmaster F430 comes in a black and silver finish which is similarly designed to most Ferrari steering wheels. To aid with control, the main steering points of the wheel are coated in rubber giving a better grip. Also, in the centre of the racing wheel there is the much wanted Ferrari badge. Most of us dream of driving a Ferrari, this badge brings the experience one step closer.
On the left side of the steering wheel there is a gear shifter for changing down, an 8-way directional d-pad (engine start) and two buttons on the wheel itself. There are also some more buttons behind the wheel.
The right side too has many buttons and a gear shifter for changing up. There is also a Manettino dial with 5 modes and LEDs. This enables you to easily change driving settings.
At the rear of the steering wheel you will find a jack for the power connector, a USB cable and a socket where the pedal set plugs into. The connection for the pedal set is alike the plug on many pedals and so maybe able to be used on different steering wheel combinations.
The bottom of the Thrustmaster F430 has many rubber non-slip pads and has a screw hole where the clamp is screwed into. It is also shaped so it will comfortably sit flat on a desk.
Also included with the Ferrari F430 racing wheel itself is the much needed pedal set which compromises of a brake pedal and accelerator. These pedals help the racing simulation experience.
The pedals themselves are not cheap plastic replicas often found on many racing simulation sets. Instead, they are proper aluminium ones in a chrome-like finish. They have been attached to the plastic base of the pedal mount with thick plastic arms which surely will not break. To add a sense of reality to the pressing of the pedals, there is a different force needed when pressing either pedals. For instance, pressing the brake pedal feels cushiony – like it does in real-life.
The bottom of the plastic pedal base has rubber non-slip pads. In testing the flooring I used was carpet and not once did the pedal set move.
