Conclusion

Aesthetically the In Win Commander is spot on, it’s one of the best looking units I’ve seen a while. It adopts a unique style, which works. The cabling too is very good, with it being fully modular, you can select only the cables you really require – avoiding having loose cabling in your system. The amount of connectors too is very good, there’s enough, but not too many either.

In testing we found the stability to be a very good factor of the power supply, it was very tight to its rated voltages which indicated a stable power supply. However the testing wasn’t all good, we identified a couple of problems during testing regarding the power factor, which certainly wasn’t the best we’ve witnessed. This shows the unit not to being using all the power drawn, therefore not being totally efficient.

All in all, if you’re a gamer you’ll love this PSU as factors like efficiency and noise probably won’t be too much of a concern. However, for the more ‘picky’ of us, there are some better PSU’s to be had for a much lower price.

I am therefore awarding the In Win Commander 3/5.

For this reason, we thought some i5 testing using our trusty CoolIT Domino was in order. Let’s see if the performance from the Domino still survives in this day and age…
