The In Win X-Fighter (Exterior)

Even if you didn’t know that the X-Fighter had been designed with Star Wars in mind, you would be able to guess that space, the future and various science fiction aspects were involved in its development.  The X-Fighter has been designed for gamers in particular (probably Star Wars fanatics more so).  The case is completely black in colour apart from some silver plastic on the front and a red mesh grill on the side panel.  The case is made from 0.8mm SECC Steel.

Located on the top (almost at the back) are the front panel ports.  These include:

  • 2x eSata
  • 2x USB
  • Headphone and Mic jack
  • 1x Firewire

On the front of the case, the power button and reset button are located on a handle that, once powered up, features HDD lights that “dance” to the utilization of your Hard Drive and Power Supply Usage (a pretty cool feature that adds to the futuristic design).  The front design altogether is very sci-fi with the six led’s that glow all in row and with the DVD drive bay panels, which are slanted rather than being vertical like almost every other case.

The rear of the chassis is home to the PSU mount, which is positioned at the top of the case (breaking the current trend in bottom mounted PSU’s).  As you can see there is also the possibility of installing a water cooling kit.  Beneath the PSU, there is a 120mm fan which is yellow in colour, a strange combination with the red and black but actually looks pretty good.

Altogether there are seven PCI/PCI-E expansion slots on the X-Fighter (the normal amount on most computer cases).

The X-Fighter’s side panel features an air duct type system like something you might see on a Star Wars or a science fiction film.  These ducts can be closed or shut depending on the users’ choice.  Behind this system, two 80mm fans are attached to a cooling system which you will see more of on the next page.

Around the Air Duct System there is a red arrow shaped mesh grill providing some more cooling to the case.
