Now the strength test. As I am getting heavier it seems unfair to use me to stand on cases. But, we don’t care. And neither does the Maelstrom either apparently, taking my weight nicely and only wobbling because I can’t balance. Now, I’m not stupid enough to stand on the side panel of the case as it would collapse inwards destroying the case. That said it is a pretty lean side panel as far as the on-the-side fan panels go and could easily withstand a beating.

Noise. Well, given the sheer magnitude of fans in this beast its hardly surprising that it produces some noise. But I feel that to you a stronger word than some would be an injustice. Its neither here nor there. It could do perhaps with a fan speed controller to lower the RPM’s a little to produce a silent case. That said I could happily sit with it for hours without losing any sanity (and I love silence).

Finally, performance. With the massive side panel fan pulling cool air in and various other fans pushing and pulling air around the case the enclosure does a sterling job of assisting cooling as they help lower the case’s internal ambient temperature dramatically.

Cooling is something you expect from a case like this. Below are a few temperatures from the CPU and GFX card whilst in-game. I decided to use Crysis as a real world testing method to see how the many fans aid in the cooling of the CPU.

As you can see the case does an excellent job of keeping the CPU temperature down. Although the game I chose is probably the most demanding title on the market for GFX cards, the case did manage to keep the temperature far lower than my trusty Antec 300 which often sees the graphics card temperature soaring to 76c and above.
